Italian Runway printed cotton and viscose fabrics

Once again we have managed to get our hands on some fabulous fabric straight off the Italian runways. Bold and current fashion prints on beautiful Italian woven cloth.

These impressive fabrics will have you sewing your dream designer wardrobe.

Trop has giant cheese plants in olive green with flashes of coral. Printed on a textured stretch cotton, almost like a bark cloth, this fabric would make a fab pair of high waisted shorts. (try the Colette Iris shorts)

Tulip Party stretch cotton sateen comes in panels with this striking large scale design, make a simple shift with the fabric and why not add some light ruffles at the shoulders, the Ultimate shift dress is ideal for this.

Abstract is another stretch cotton sateen with a dramatic print. A pair of simple trousers like the City trousers would be really wonderful.

Ramano features beautiful peacocks nestled among trees and arches. A design as pretty as this requires a super pretty dress pattern like the Crepe dress.

Pidi Ikat print is a light woven viscose with hints of pink and blue. Make a Marigold jumpsuit for ultimate boho chic.

This fabulous Elephant print viscose would be great as a light floaty shirt like the Hermes shirt.

Bright graphics and bold colour fabrics

This bunch of graphic prints will really grab your attention. Imagine standing out in one of these eye popping fabrics.

Zari cotton is a bright orange print on a textured white background. This fabric has a little bit of body to it, so use for a structured dress like the Day dress or try a little summer jacket like the Jackie O jacket.

Trattino linen features a teal and black design. Imagine a peplum dress like the Scarlet in this fabric.

This bold red Silk Crepe de Chine is printed with a really bright red onto a red silk resulting in a super vibrant finish. Perfect for a swishy Sophia dress.

These silk and cotton mix voiles in Tangerine and Apple are lightweight and super bright. Make a summer shirt with the Quinn pattern.

Fancy something a little more subdued and relaxed? We have got our terry sweatshirt jersey back in stock in a dusky Blush colour and a light Grey marl. Great for a summer Linden sweatshirt.

City Trousers by The Avid Seamstress

The Avid Seamstress patterns follow simple lines and classic styling for really wearable wardrobe builders. With a cute split hem and an easy to insert back zip (no fly).  You can make the City trousers up really quickly. I love the fact that they sit quite high at the natural waist on me. This means that I can tuck in a top or even wear a slightly cropped top with out baring too much flesh. I also roped my mum in to make a pair, which she ended up loving!!

The Avid Seamstress The City Trousers

Both my mother and I made our City Trousers in patterned cotton sateen. I opted for the Rosa sateen available in navy or white and now back in stock on the website. I love the giant roses on this stretch cotton fabric, they are so dramatic yet easy to wear.

Mum used the Portia sateen. When I suggested it she was a little unsure but now she has made them up and she loves them, I can see why they look really great on her. She's already got her second pair underway.

You can order the City trousers pattern here.

1930's vintage print fabrics

These nautical and aerial inspired prints are original vintage 1930's designs. Printed in Italy on top quality viscose or silk they are the ultimate in luxury fabrics. But, as before with these Italian fabrics we only have a limited supply and just a few metres of some designs, so they will not be about for long.

This viscose twill has a slinky sheen finish and has a wonderful drapey handle to it. The fabric would be ideal for a dress, simple top or a dramatic pair of culottes or midi skirt.

Veni features rows of sailors dancing round seagulls on a bright orange background.

Ladies floating about on lilos on a flame background, Capello just makes me want to jump in the pool.

Regatta is the ultimate ditsy nautical print. Tiny sailors, anchors and flags adorn this french navy fabric.

These light weight silks are perfect for a stylish blouse or long line shirt. Wear with a plain pair of shorts (like our Maritime shorts kit) for the ultimate summer cool.

Tempete features Aeroplanes flying through storm clouds and lighting.

These small sailing boats on Yate are both classy and cute.

Summer has arrived and so have these beautiful Italian prints

Botanical linens, ice cream cones and pretty eyelet cotton. Summer has finally arrived and so have these stunning Italian designer fabrics.

These beautiful linens have delicate botanical designs digitally printed on them. The contrast of the fine florals with the texture of the linen really makes this fabric come to life. Try a shirt dress like the Hermes or the Sew Over It shirt dress

The Panula Linen reminds me of my childhood, I can totally imagine this having been at my Granny's house, maybe on a piece of fine china.

The Clova linen also has a slight retro feel to it, but also reminds me of some of the new designer floral prints we have seen recently.

Nothing says summer like an ice cream maxi dress, this light printed ice cream viscose would be ideal made into a floor scraping Saltspring.

A pretty Floral eyelet cotton in light ivory, perfect for a Laurel shift dress or a peter pan collared Violet blouse. Let out your inner girlie!

Runway Botanicals

There are Botanical prints everywhere at the moment and Fabric Godmother is no exception. Our latest Italian ex-designer collection features a range of pretty florals on strong pastel and white backgrounds.

Check out my Botanical Pinterest Board for some inspiration.

Chloe is a pretty lightweight floral print viscose on a powder blue and dusky pink backgrounds. I love the idea of pairing the 2 prints together using the Powder Blue to make a jasmine blouse worn with Palazzo pants in the dusky pink.

Meadow is a stretch viscose, similar in weight and feel to a cotton lawn it has extra drape and a bit of stretch for comfort. This fabric would be amazing made in to a Marigold Jumpsuit. Pair with heels and a cream jacket and you are wedding ready.

Wyld stretch cotton is a lightweight stretch cotton, ideal for a dress like the Derby, imagine those ruffles in this beautiful botanical floral!

Carrie crepe has delicate watercolour florals, perfect for a shirt or blouse my pick would be the Archer shirt.

These are all limited edition prints and will not be repeated so don't hang about if you like them as much as we do!

Our latest Flamingo Party print is a vibrant lightweight viscose fabric. In hot coral or cool aqua why not take both!

Because everybody needs a flamingo jumpsuit, Tilly & the Buttons Marigold is a perfect pairing for this fabric.

Christine Haynes Emery dress hits all the right buttons to show off this fun print of this viscose. Imagine that cute bow in a contrast fabric!

Imagine this skirt covered in giant flamingos, oh yes! I Am Patterns Hestia needs to be made in this fabric.

You can Toucan is an adorable stretch cotton covered with... guessed it! Bold toucans on a pale mint background really pop out.

Use this fabric to make a pair of super cute Colette Clover trousers.

This toucan print would also be fabulous as a fit and flare dress like the Cambie from Sewaholic which is now back in print.
